Accessible Fellowship Process

Accessibility and Reasonable Adjustments

GULFHE aims to make the Fellowship process accessible while maintaining the same professional recognition standard for all applicants. Reasonable process adjustments may be agreed where they remove an access barrier without lowering the published criteria.

01

Examples of adjustments

Accessible document formats; additional time where justified; alternative communication arrangements; support for assistive technology; accessible interview or professional-conversation arrangements; or another proportionate adjustment appropriate to the identified barrier.

02

How to request an adjustment

Use the secure adjustment request route as early as possible. Explain the barrier and the adjustment requested. GULFHE should ask only for information reasonably necessary to understand and arrange the adjustment.

03

Confidentiality

Accessibility and health-related information must be restricted to authorised staff and should not be disclosed to reviewers unless necessary for implementing an approved adjustment. An adjustment request must not be treated as negative assessment evidence.

04

Digital accessibility

The public website and portal should target WCAG 2.2 AA, including keyboard operation, visible focus, programmatic labels, error summaries, sufficient colour contrast, responsive layouts and accessible document alternatives where practicable.

Need an accessible alternative?

Contact the Fellowship Office if a standard online form or document creates a barrier. The Office should agree a controlled alternative that preserves confidentiality, identity and assessment integrity.
